One Man’s Opus by Boyd Craven III

5/5 stars.

The main character is a fiction author.  I have been doing a lot of reading and learning about fiction writing lately, as well as about the other activities that indie authors need to know about – so I connected more than usual with the main character’s interests, even if not with his activities.  It was more than a little disconcerting in the beginning, but Craven has woven a widely accessible tale, set in a context that could appeal to many, so the story soon took priority.

The story itself is engaging: Different to many in the dystopian genre in that the main character was not really a prepper – certainly not in the deliberate and extreme ways that we often see.  This meant that he was more relatable from my perspective (because I’m just an ordinary person too; certainly not a prepper).  I enjoyed this story immensely.
