This is England, by Barry Budden

Amazon Review, 15 October 2013:

I VERY much want to give this book five stars because it has such a great story-line, with beautifully developed characters. However, there were also way too many commas that should have been full stops, for example. It really does interfere with flow and attention. This author already demonstrates ability to manipulate pace, and good sentence structure would simply rivet me as a reader.

I like that the story is unusual and that everything doesn’t work out perfectly every time. Lots of prepper/survival stories involve grossly unrealistic levels of perfect invulnerability, with a cast of conveniently useful characters – but I found this book very well balanced. More important than what the characters did, was how they did it. A very engrossing journey through stories of humanity and resilience.

I would definitely like to read more from this author.
